Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
