NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
During a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Display Seals Game
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes left.
Record Difficulties for Jets Offense
In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a possible victory. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was completely absent," the coach stated after the game.
