Trevoh Chalobah Expected to Step in for Guehi in England Squad

Chelsea defender playing for England

Trevoh Chalobah followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st duo of siblings to earn caps for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is expected to be added to the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to join the national side for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, but it has still not been confirmed.

The England team have already qualified for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah earned his first selection under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be left out from the team for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally omitted him for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an key figure in Chalobah's progress, having given him his Chelsea debut in the year 2021.

Chalobah has featured in all but four games for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the side occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a injury to his foot in Crystal Palace's Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar recently.

There are set to be other inclusions to the squad. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the England setup.
